Reigning rookie of the year guard Damian Lillard is embroiled in a war of words with Houston guard Patrick Beverley after the two repeatedly squared off during the host Rockets' 118-113 overtime win over Portland on Sunday.

The 23-year-old guard is a hard nosed, defensive complement to the high-scoring tandem of James Harden and Dwight Howard. Now, Fansided.com is reporting Beverley's antics appear to be wearing thin among many of his star-studded opponents.

"It's irritating," Lillard told Fansided of Beverley's antics, which included inducing Lillard into fouling out and being called for several offensive fouls. "But I was locked into the game to be one hundred percent honest with you. It's irritating that he's doing all that little stuff like flopping, tying you up and all that for the whole game. But I don't really get caught up in that. It's whatever."

Beverley couldn't agree more, at least about the whatever part. "If he thinks I'm flopping, that's on him, not me," said Beverley . "We won. That's all I care about."

Just last week, Miami veteran forward Udonis Haslem confronted Beverley about shouting at the Heat bench, telling him to just shut up and play the game. Previously, Sacramento forward DeMarcus Cousins punched Beverley in the groin during a scuffle and the second-year guard was also the man defending Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook when he blew out his knee late last seaon.
