Two clubs in the bottom half of the Premier League table will do battle today in a cup match between Hull City and Sunderland. The first-division battle scheduled for 10:00 a.m. ET will be held at KC Stadium in Kingston upon Hill and can be live streamed here.
For Sunderland, today’s match will be the club’s second consecutive cup contest. After taking a shocking 1-0 lead in the Capital One Cup final against Manchester City, they would eventually succumb to their opponent’s superiority and fall 3-1. They’ll look to avoid a similar result against an opponent of lessened quality on the road.
Hull City are looking for a rebound of their own. The newly promoted club suffered a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Newcastle United in Week 28. Despite the loss, they remain six points above Sunderland and the relegation zone in the Premier League. Sunderland, however, have the advantage of having a pair of games in hand. Eliminating the Black Cats from the FA Cup could prove to be demoralizing enough to stave off elimination and simultaneously send Sunderland to the second division.
