UPDATE (11:40 AM): Lance Moore was released by the New Orleans Saints. Moore was due to make $3.8 million and can sign with any team immediatly. Look for the Colts, Broncos and Patriots to be interested in the veteran. (END UPDATE)
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore has tweeted a heartfelt goodbye to the city that has employed him for nine seasons. Moore, among a few other of his Saints teammates, has been the subject of trade talks in the past few weeks and his tweet suggests that the end is nigh.
Nothing official has been released other than Moors’s tweet, but a likely landing spot would be with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. Moore is a solid veteran starter and would bring some stability to a team disarray at the wide receiver position. The Patriots also make sense for Moore due to the connection that Saints coach Sean Payton has with coach Belichick from their time being mentored by Bill Parcells at separate times.
Other teams could be interested in Moore include the Broncos if they lose Eric Decker and the Colts with a post ACL tear Reggie Wayne. The Saints look to be cleaning house on offense with rumors of Moore, Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles all on the trading block. These moves and more could pave the way for the Saints to sign Jimmy Graham to a long term deal.
What do you think Moore’s tweet means and who do you think is interested in the veteran? Tell us @SportsWN.
