Detroit Pistons legend Chauncey Billups is strongly considering retiring at tne end of the NBA season.

The 38-year-old Billups has an option year left on the two-year deal he signed before the start of the season, but Father Time may prove to have settled the score long before then.

According to MLive.com, Billups had knee surgery to clean up a small left meniscus tear last week and it's uncertain if he'll be able to take the court again this season.

"Father Time is undefeated, man," Billups recently told the website. "My gas light is on."

Asked if that may mean he's already played his last NBA game, Billups told MLive.com, "it all kind of depends on how this feels and how things are with the knee. If the knee is fine, then sure, absolutely, I would like to come back. If it's not, I don't want to come back and do this. It's tough to do this, especially on a team when we're not a winning team at this stage."

The Pistons play 16 of their final 25 games this season on the road and Billups said he'll take a wait-and-see attitude as to what his role might be.

"I'm not gonna rush back," he said. "I do just want to get it better. I feel like if my knee was fine all year, we probably wouldn't be in the position we are in. We'd probably be a little bit higher up in the standings, I would think."
