University of Central Florida quarterback prospect Blake Bortles may be a star in the making, but his girlfriend Lindsey Duke is shining bright right now. Duke's Instagram and Twitter accounts are far more popular than her boyfriend's, and she's generating upward of six million online searches a day. Could she be Bortles' ticket to New York for the NFL Draft?
Pro scouts were asking Bortles about her during the Combine interviews. According to Paul Pabst of The Dan Patrick Show, "Blake Bortles said he was asked about his girlfriend at the combine.."They said, if we come to town...will she be coming to dinner with us?"
Bortles' girlfriend is absolutely raising his Q rating, but the man who was only offered scholarships by three schools is still being overlooked, despite being in the race for the No. 1 pick. "I don't know if I've been invited," Bortles said about possibly bringing Duke to New York for the draft.
With so many quarterback needy clubs near the top of the draft this year, it's probably safe to assume Bortles will get invited. Even if the decision makers thought he may fall, that would only serve as an opportunity to give Duke extra screen time.
Aside from the bikini model gal pal, Bortles has done plenty with his own arm to make scouts, executives and fans take notice. During his stellar junior season at UCF, which ended in a Fiesta Bowl win over Baylor, he threw for 3,581 yards and 25 touchdowns, while also rushing for six more.
CBSSports.com has Bortles pegged to go first overall in their mock draft, while ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has him slotted eighth to the Minnesota Vikings. His draft counterpart at ESPN, Todd McShay, has him going fourth to Cleveland.
