Aaron Hernandez murder case update: NFL vet has jailhouse fight, beats up inmate 'pretty good' {VIDEO]

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is being accused of attacking another inmate at the Bristol County House of Corrections on Tuesday.

According to TMZ, Hernandez who heretofore has been held in solitary confinement, was allowed to take a walk in an isolated hallway, but somehow came into contact with a man, he had been bickering with all day.

Sources tell TMZ the 24-year-old former NFL star immediately recognized him and "beat the guy pretty good." Another source adds it all stems from the other man harassing Hernandez nonstop.

Sheriff Thomas Hodgson later told reporters in that area of the facility typically only one inmate at a time is allowed out of their cell. He added staffers are now interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance equipment to determine exactly what happened.

"It was very brief," he told TMZ. "The officers were right there and it was stopped within seconds, maybe a minute. We don't know what, if any, relationship there was or has been at any point, either here or anywhere else."

Hernandez has remained held at the jail without bail since June 26, in the execution-style slaying of one-time associate Odin Lloyd. Lloyd's bullet-riddled body was found less than a mile from Hernandez's North Attleborough mansion and police have speculated he may have been killed because of his knowledge of other violent crimes involving Hernandez.
