Clippers Top Jazz to Finish Perfect December 16-0

Los Angeles Clippers beat Utah Jazz 107-96 on Sunday night to end with a 16-0 record in the month of December, and also notch their 17th straight win.

The Clippers became only the third team in NBA history to have a perfect month.

"We got something extremely magical going on," Caron Butler said.

Los Angeles matched San Antonio Spurs, who had a 16-0 record in the 1995-96 season, a team which current Clipper coach Vinny Del Negro was a part of.

"When we win we usually jump up and down once or twice," the Associated Press quoted coach Del Negro as saying. "Tonight we let them jump up and down three or four times, so everyone had their fill."

"I am amazed because I haven't done it since I've been in the league," said seven-year veteran Chris Paul, whose 19 points and nine assists helped his team maintain the league's best record at 25-6.

Caron Butler was the top scorer for the Clippers with 29 points, making 10 of 14 shots from the field. Butler also had six 3-pointers in the game.

Reserve Jamal Crawford added 19 points, while Blake Griffin had seven points and seven rebounds.

"That shows our depth," Paul added. "Our bench stepped up amazing. On any given night it can be another guy."

While the Clippers are on cloud nine, the Jazz (15-17) are struggling to find any rhythm, slumping to their third straight defeat.

"That's an incredible record to have," Utah's Derrick Favors said. "They've got 17 straight wins and they're playing hard.

"I know there's a lot of pressure on them to try to keep it up, and they're going to keep coming out and keep playing the same way."

For the Jazz, Al Jefferson had 30 points and eight rebounds, while Gordon Hayward scored 16 points.

"It's frustrating," Hayward said. "Knowing that they're a good team and knowing that we're always right there with them, knowing that we need to keep on playing good for 48 minutes."

The Clippers took a 54-45 lead over the Jazz in the first half, but Utah outscored them in the third 31-25 to cut Los Angeles' lead to 79-76.

The Clippers extended their lead 89-81 with the help of Crawford's 3-pointer and a pull-up jumper. Crawford scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to help his team outscore the Jazz 28-20 and win the game by 11 points.
