UFC 170 kicks off tonight from Las Vegas, Nevada at 8:00 p.m. ET with three preliminary bouts on Fox Sports 1 that can be live streamed free by clicking this link. At 10:00 p.m. ET, the action shifts over to the main card, which can be seen on pay-per-view or live streamed here.
The main event of the evening is Ronda Rousey vs. Sara McMann. While this matchup doesn't have the promotional juice of Rousey's blood feud with Miesha Tate, it has the specter of McMann's wrestling skills becoming the great equalizer against the UFC's fastest rising star.
Rousey is a noted judo savant, but McMann is an equally gifted wrestler; both are former Olympic medalists. Just because McMann isn't seeking the limelight, that doesn't make her less of a threat.
"My significant other and I both felt like this couldn't have come at a better time. It feels very right to us," McMann said upon getting the fight. "That's what makes us very excited about it because if it had come off some kind of controversy or like, different fights have a different feel to them, some with a more negative perception. This one just feels like the perfect timing."
The immediate undercard is an interesting match as well, as heavyweight standout Daniel Cormier is making his light heavyweight debut vs. Patrick Cummins. Cormier has his sights set on Jon Jones' title, and an impressive victory could speed up the process. He will need to grease the wheels, as a win over his original opponent, Rashad Evans, would have made him look even better.
"It's going to take more now," Cormier said of how his Cummins bout will affect his future title chances. "It's going to take more. That's one thing we cannot ignore."
