George Zimmerman now insists he wants to box rap star Kanye West because he has a history of attacking "defenseless people," according to TMZ.
Attention-seeking promoters for Zimmerman began soliciting would-be takers for a celebrity boxing match with their client last week, right around the same time they also planted a story that Zimmerman was receiving death threats and security for the proposed match would have to be at a premium.
TMZ adds Zimmerman has now targeted West not just based on his many skirmishes with paparazzi, but because of the way he targets "innocent" people, such as the California teen he recently fought with after he allegedly called fiancee Kim Kardashian a ni***r lover."
Zimmerman's sudden valor strikes many as ironic given he only became a public figure after admitting he was the triggerman in the shooting death of unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin in 2012. Though he was acquitted of murder charges, Zimmerman admitted he shot the teen after ignoring a police dispatcher's stern advice to cease with following the teen he later admitted he thought looked suspicious because he was wearing a hoodie.
If West agrees to the slugfest promoters now insist they would be willing to move it to L.A. in order to accommodate him.
TMZ has previously reported rap stars The Game and DMX have both publicly expressed their interest in fighting Zimmerman.
