With CM Punk walking out on the WWE last week, many of the company's major plans and directives for its huge WrestleMania XXX pay-per-view at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans have gone up in smoke. With the expected Punk vs. Triple H match seemingly canceled, the WWE is also reconsidering Brock Lesnar's role at the event among other options.
Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that WWE officials had meetings over the weekend and discussed WrestleMania XXX plans and what the company will do without Punk or what they'll do if they are able to get "The Best in the World" back.
According to the report, these meetings didn't only take place because of Punk leaving, but also because of some of the negative reactions the company has been getting lately and the positive reactions that Daniel Bryan received at the Royal Rumble event.
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, one source said that "anything can happen" between now and the event as it continues to take form, while the only match that is considered to be a lock is the highly rumored John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt match.
The site also reports that while it was planned that Brock Lesnar would take on The Undertaker at the event, it seems as though the WWE may be pushing towards a Brock Lesnar vs. Batista match at the pay-per-view. The WWE's original plan has always been to have Undertaker face Lesnar, but with recent tension between Lesnar and Batista on Monday Night RAW, it's possible that the company will opt to throw Batista in against Lesnar.
With reports of the WWE close to landing Sting to a contract, it could be possible that the WWE does a program between Sting and The Undertaker that has been talked about for years. It isn't expected that Sting will compete at the event, however.
Of course, with Batista winning the Royal Rumble, it seemed as though he would be facing Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX, but if the WWE changes its plans there will have to be some shifting around of the storylines.
A report over the weekend from Wrestlingheadlines.com indicated that there were talks of Triple H facing Daniel Bryan with the stipulation being that if Bryan won he'd get a WWE World Heavyweight Championship shot at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event in his hometown of Seattle. The WWE also discussed the possibility of doing a match between Kane and Sheamus while sticking to the planned Orton and Batista match.
The site also reports that the WWE weighted options of doing John Cena vs. Triple H, Sheamus vs. Bray Wyatt and Orton vs. Batista vs. Bryan in a triple threat match for the title, while they've also mulled Sheamus vs. Triple H, Cena vs. Wyatt and Bryan vs. Orton vs. Batista in a three-way.
The plans for WrestleMania XXX are very much up in the air and with a lot of creative options, it's unknown what the WWE will decide to do for its biggest event of the year.
