Tonight's Super Bowl pairing marks the first matchup of the No. 1 seeds since 2009, when Peyton Manning's Colts took on the New Orleans Saints. Manning is back again, with a new team against the best defense the NFL has to offer. Manning, on the other hand, is the brains behind the league's top offense.

Seattle's secondary, nicknamed the "Legion of Boom" and led by boisterous cornerback Richard Sherman, will pose as big a threat as any Manning has seen during this historic season. He threw an NFL single-season record 55 touchdown passes this year, while Sherman led the league in interceptions. The Seahawks also boast arguably the league's top safety tandem, which will try to contain super-slot receiver Wes Welker and athletic tight end Julius Thomas. "They are as good as advertised," said Manning.

On top of the rough matchup, Manning has the added pressure of trying to cement himself as potentially the greatest quarterback in NFL history. He and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots have long been rivals; event though Manning vanquished him this season, without a second Super Bowl ring on his hand Brady may likely be viewed as the greater player.

"I've been being asked about my legacy since I was about 25 years old. I'm not sure you can have a legacy when you're 25 years old. Even 37," Manning said. "I'd like to have to be, like, 70 to have a legacy. I'm not even 100 percent sure what the word even means. I'm down the homestretch of my career, but I'm still in it. It's not over yet. And so it's still playing out."

While much attention has been given to how tough the matchup will be for Peyton, he leads a record-breaking passing offense that might just give Seattle fits.

"Peyton's been extraordinary," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. "People couldn't even dream to have the year that Peyton's had before this season with all the numbers. We're up against it."
