Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, NBA TV will be televising what could wind up being an intense NBA rodeo between Texas titans when the San Antonio Spurs (33-11) travel to Houston to face off with James Harden and the Rockets (29-17). Live stream the game here; Spurs fans can listen to the game on 1200 WOAI, while Rockets fans can hear the action on KBME Sports Talk 790.
Tonight's battle will be an interesting matchup between guards of different sizes and styles. Harden paces the Rockets with 23.7 points and 5.5 assists per game, both team highs. Spurs point guard Tony Parker also leads his team in those categories, putting up 18.1 points and 6.3 assists a night.
At the moment Parker's burden appears heavier, as San Antonio is fighting through injuries to several key role players, while his main co-stars are elderly by NBA standards and require minutes limitations.
Everybody has injuries. You have to deal with them during the season," Parker said. "Obviously, it's hurting us but they're going to come back. We just have to keep pushing and try to get better."
Meanwhile the Rockets are on a two-game losing streak and have been out of sync on offense. "The last two games we've been terrible offensively," said Chandler Parsons. Luckily for Houston they've scored 112 and 111 points in their first two games against the Spurs this season, both wins. Both of those games were in San Antonio too; now they are getting them at the Toyota Center where they're 18-6 this year.
Even with that recent success, head coach Kevin McHale sounds worried sick about the matchup.
"It's going to be a tough game," McHale said. "The first two games don't make any difference. We're a different team. They're a different team. We've got to play really well. That team lost to Miami, they're going to come in hungry."
