Tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1, two of the remaining Big East stalwarts from the conference's glory days, the No. 4 Villanova Wildcats (17-2, 6-1 Big East) and Georgetown Hoyas (11-8, 3-5 Big East) will square off in Washington D.C. Live stream the heated NCAA action here; 'Nova fans can find the radio broadcast on 97.5 The Fantatic, while Hoyas fans can do the same on WTEM-980.
The Wildcats have been very strong this year, but were exposed a bit by Creighton which ran them out of the gym in a 30-point thrashing. Defense was an issue in that loss according to head coach Jay Wright, who wasn't happy that Marquette shot 50 percent against them over the weekend.
"We were not good defensively," Wright said after the Marquette game.. "We just outscored them at the end." Wright was especially impressed with his point guard Ryan Arcidiacono, who scored 20 points and handed out a career-high 11 assists.
"To have a point guard like that who wants the ball in his hands, makes the right decisions, is big," Wright said. "Ryan missed a couple of foul shots at the end of regulation. There was no doubt of anybody on our team that he would make the next ones. He doesn't let it affect him. He's a special player."
Georgetown has seen better days, and will be looking to avoid their first five-game losing streak since the 2010-2011 season. "We're in a bad place and we've got to figure out how to get out of this bad place," coach John Thompson III said.
Despite injuries and a suspension to center Joshua Smith for the remainder of the season, Thompson III thinks there's plenty of time to right the ship.
"We're not at the halfway point of the conference season yet. We're eight games into an 18-game season," Thompson said. "We have to figure out adjustments, changes -- some big, some small -- on how this group is going to win."
