LeBron James Backs Richard Sherman, 'I Don't Know One Thug That Graduated From Stanford' [VIDEO]

LeBron James is throwing his support behind embattled Seattle Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman, tweeing lateThursday "I don't know one thug that graduated from Stanford and also working on their masters. Don't judge a book by its cover."

The Super Bowl-bound Sherman came under heavy fire this week in the wake of his post-game meltdown against San Francisco, where he ridiculed 49ers wideout Michael Crabtree as "mediocre."

"The reason it bothers me is because it seems like it's an accepted way of calling somebody the N-word now," Sherman told CBSSports.com of all those who have labeled him a "thug." He later added "it's like everybody else said the N-word and then they say 'thug' and that's fine. It kind of takes me aback and it's kind of disappointing because they know."

In any event, Sherman appears to have won the support of James, despite the Miami Heat star being a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fans.

"Keep going ham on the field @RSherman_ 25" he also tweeted. "Best of luck in the Super Bowl dude."

James and his Miami Heat will actually be in New York, the site of the Super Bowl, during game week, as the two time defending champs face the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 1.
