Darren Sharper Arrest Update: Woman Admits She Was Drunk, Insists NFL Vet Attacked Her [VIDEO]

The New Orleans woman also accusing former NFL star Darren Sharper of rape tells police she consumed "a large amount of alcohol" on the night the alleged took place, but she never consented to being intimate with him.

According to NOLA.com., the woman adds she met Sharper in a bar on the night of September 23, and he took her back to his Central Business District apartment where he allegedly attacked her. The woman called police a few hours later and formally filed a police report.

Sharper was arrested last week in Los Angeles in an unrelated probe where two other women also claim the former Super Bowl hero sexually assaulted them, with one of the attacks allegedly taking place as recently as this month. Now an NFL Network analyst, Sharper has insisted he is innocent of all the allegations.

New Orleans police classified the incident as a simple rape. The website reports per state law, a simple rape occurs when sex is deemed to be "without the lawful consent of the victim," meaning the victim is "incapable of resisting or of understanding the nature of the act" possibly due to being intoxicated, and "the offender knew or should have known of the victim's incapacity." A simple rape conviction can carry up to as many as 25 years in prison.

During his 14 year NFL career, Sharper was a two-time, first-team All Pro and was named to five Pro Bowls. He was also selected as part of the NFL All-Decade Team for the 2000s.
