Jon Jones Next Fight Glover Teixeira: Phil Davis Says 'Bones' Scared To Fight? 'Bless His Little Heart' [VIDEO]

Phil Davis, a high-level UFC light heavyweight with just one blemish on his record, a 2012 loss to Rashad Evans, seems like he's ready for the spotlight again. Following the defeat to Evans, Davis has reeled off three straight wins, including one of Lyoto Machida, and is sounding off about Jon Jones.

Davis fired verbal shots at "Bones," claiming he's scared to step in the octagon with Glover Teixiera.

"I'm just going to tell you the short version," Davis said. "Alexander Gustafsson put tips all over that boy. [Jones] doesn't know up from down, left from right. So I really don't see him wanting to get back in there with anybody -- definitely not Alexander. I don't even think he wants to get back in there with Glover Teixeira -- bless his little heart. I don't wish [Jones] harm or wish he's injured, I just have this sneaky suspicion.

Then, in what seemed like an attempt at wriggling his way into either a title shot with Jones, or a high-profile matchup with Teixiera, offered to step in should the fight get called off. "Look, I like [Teixeira]. He's a cool cat, but this is what we do. I'm sure he doesn't care. He's willing to mix it up with anybody, too."

Davis' claims are bizarre, as Jones has mixed it up with nearly every relevant name in his weight class. In fact, Teixeira might be the only man remaining that is a serious threat at the moment to Jones' near-spotless record. Many fans clamored for an immediate rematch of the Jones-Gustafsson classic, but even UFC president Dana White acknowledged some fighters have ducked Teixeira.

"[Mauricio "Shogun" Rua] said that he'd actually rather be cut than have to fight him," White said. "Dude, nobody wants to fight this guy."
