Gilbert Arenas Ordered To Lecture Fifth-Graders As Park Of Illegal Fireworks Conviction [VIDEO]

A Los Angeles County judge has ordered former NBA All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas to serve two years probation and 10 hours of community service stemming from his illegal fireworks conviction.

According to TMZ.com, as part of a plea deal agreement in which he formally pleaded no contest, the 32-year-old Arenas was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and further instructed to serve all of his community service by lecturing fifth grade students about fireworks safety.

Arenas was arrested last June 27, when police stopped his vehicle and found him transporting more than 100 pounds of "dangerous." and illegal fireworks.

Arenas played 11 NBA seasons and was named a three-time all star. His best season came with the Washington Wizards in 2005-6, when he averaged 29.3 points, 6.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds. Over his career, Arenas averaged 21 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Arenas is also well-known for a 2010 incident in which he and then Wizards teammate Javaris Crittenton engaged in a gun-wielding standoff in the team locker room at the height of a gambling related dispute. Both were suspended for the remainder of the season, and Arenas never averaged more than eight points again in a NBA season.
