The Milwaukee Bucks registered a thrilling victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-102 in Saturday's game.
Brandon Jennings' 3-pointer at the buzzer sealed the victory for the Bucks. He contributed with 13 points and had 13 assists.
''It was actually an ugly game for us. It wasn't our best performance but if we want to get over the hump these are the games we need to win,'' Jennings said after the match.
Mike Dunleavy contributed with 29 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for the Bucks. His perfect inbound pass to Jennings was crucial in the dying moments of the game.
''I was thinking about calling a timeout. He got it with a nice rhythm coming off his left hand,'' The Associated Press quoted Dunleavy as saying.
Byron Scott, the Cleveland coach, stated that the clock might have started late on the decisive final play.
''I don't want to get fined, but I am not going to say nothing about the clock starting late on the last shot. They have to figure out a way to do something about that. Bottom line is either it doesn't count or you take it out again. You're looking at it again in your locker room a couple times, the shot shouldn't have counted,'' he said.
Scott further said that he would send a tape of the play to league offices for them to reconsider it.
The referees had asked for a video replay to confirm that there was one-tenth of a second left on the clock when the shot left Jennings' hand.
Kyrie Irving contributed with 27 points for the Cavaliers. They tied the game with just seven-tenth of a second remaining before Jennings hit the winning shot. The Bucks looked ecstatic and rejoiced with wild abandon after the game.
''We run that play every day in practice so I knew I'd get a good open look. I knew I had a chance at hitting it,'' Jennings said.
The Bucks have now won two games while the Cavaliers have two victories and a loss.
''To be 2-0 right now feels good. You can't do any better than that. We feel like obviously we have a lot of room to improve, but it's a nice start,'' Dunleavy said.
On the late run, the Bucks took a significant 102-95 lead, but it was reduced when Irving hit a 3-point play to help his side within 102-100 with just about 30 seconds left.
With just 10 seconds remaining, Jennings missed a running jumper; however, the ball went off Anderson Varejao with just a tenth of a second remaining on the shot clock.
Refree Kevin Fehr's call was confirmed after a video replay when he waived off Jennings' score on a quick jumper as a shot clock violation. The Cavaliers took possession with just 9.2 seconds left.
Irving quickly scored for Cleveland to tie the score at 102, with just seven-tenths of a second remaining.
Jennings finally brought home the bacon for his team at the buzzer.
