Marcos Maidana's name is red-hot right now after pulling off the year's biggest upset by smothering Adrien "The Problem" Broner on December 14th and knocking him down twice in a unanimous decision win.

Maidana's hoping that the impressive showing will land him a date with Floyd Mayweather Jr., but Amir Khan appears to be ahead of him in that respect. Should Mayweather decide Khan is the one, IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter is calling "El Chino" out.

Porter won his title by beating Devon Alexander, who was the last man to hand Maidana a loss. "Most definitely. I'm a hot commodity right now, and I think that I have what it takes to beat Maidana, and I think that I have what it takes to make that fight interesting," Porter said.

Richard Schaefer, Golden Boy CEO, said Porter has goals of unifying the welterweight division. "I will tell you what, I just had the new 147-pound IBF champion here. And Shawn Porter said, 'You know what? I want to unify.' So he's calling out Marcos Maidana as well," said Schaefer.

Julio Diaz, who lost to Porter in September, also thinks Porter will be able to knock off the power-puncher. "I think he matches up well, because of his style. It will help him," Diaz said.

"He can take a punch, he's a solid guy and he's a fresh fighter. A guy like Maidana, if he's not able to hurt a Shawn Porter then Shawn Porter will win the rounds. He is not an explosive puncher but he will rough you up and push you around. I think he matches up very good."

Porter was on hand for the Maidana vs. Broner card, and said that the result surprised him. "It didn't go the way that I thought it would go," said Porter. "I actually thought that Broner would move more and use his quickness, but Maidana came in and got the job done."
