JJ Redick Unbothered by Haters, Says Ex-Teammate Matt Barnes—'He's Done a Great Job So Far'

All the naysayers haven't gotten to JJ Redick, despite his assuming head-coaching duties of the Los Angeles Lakers. Or, at least not based on those brief assertions by former teammate Matt Barnes, sharing a court with Redick from 2013 through 2015 in the L.A. Clippers.

Blocking Out the Noise and Focusing on Success

As Redick starts his first stint with the Lakers, the intense scrutiny on his play has grown exponentially.  Even though he's at the bottom of the head coaches' ranking due to "lack of experience," there's someone who believes that his coaching skills would pan out better.

TMZ Sports informs that Barnes shared how Redick has always been a pro at shutting out the negative noise and keeping his focus simply on proper, impactful decisions for his team. With not only dedication but also immense skill in his history, Redick will be able to handle what it takes to succeed in the NBA.

"He doesn't give a s*** about criticism," Barnes said. "He played in the NBA long enough and been a star for long enough to let it go in one ear and out the other."

Establishing an Identity for the Lakers

Barnes sees changes being triggered by Redick's presence in the Lakers. The coach has been putting extra effort into giving an identity to the team that would prove beneficial to the players and empower them enough to play to their strengths.

The sense of pride and purpose Redick is passing on to the team bases a great foundation for what can be a fab season.

Redick Will Work Hard to Set the Bar High For the LA

Barnes expects Redick to keep on working hard and set the bar high for the Lakers. Even as the season is young, Barnes holds a rosy optimism that because of Redick's command, many great things will be made of this team.

"This team has a chance to do special things," Barnes said, adding that he's excited to see how the rest of the season unfolds.

But under the microscope, Redick's focus goes hand in hand with a penchant for defining team spirit, so that may work in favor of having an exceptional season with the Lakers.
