NBA veteran Danny Green announced his retirement on podcast this Thursday, Oct. 10. One of just a handful of four players to have won championships in three different teams, Green will join a long list of only four in history after winning titles with San Antonio Spurs in 2014, Toronto Raptors in 2019, and Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.
Amazing 15-Year Career of Danny Green in the NBA
Over his 15-year playing career, Green established himself as a dependable 3-and-D cager, very prized in the modern-day NBA. He is known to be a marksman of threes, a guy who gives you quality defensive plays, and for so many years, he has been an anchor to teams that come to win in big leagues. His three-point shooting percentage stands at a convincing 40%, making him one of the most reliable shooters in the league.
He had enough attempts with three-pointers to the basket-that is 3,946 in the regular season-making him one of the risky boundary threats, according to Hoops Rumors.
"I'm officially moving on from the game of basketball, the NBA. It's been a great run. To me, I'm very proud to be able to walk away from the game. I'm at peace with it," Green said.
Throughout his entire NBA career, the 37-year-old sharpshooter averaged 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists,s, and 1.0 steals in 25.1 minutes per game. He played in 832 regular-season games, starting in 709 of them as a die-hard starter for several teams.

Early Career Journey Through NBA
Green spent most of his nine-year NBA career with San Antonio Spurs, and he was drafted 46th overall in 2009 NBA Draft by Cleveland, where he spent a short time before joining the Spurs, ESPN reports.
From 2010 to 2018, Green played as a shooting guard at San Antonio, and he was considered one of the most reliable defenders and shooters in the league. He was there during their winning 2014 NBA Championship season.
He then had key minutes with the Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Lakers. He has won two championships, one in 2019 with the Raptors and another in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Green spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers and Memphis Grizzlies, and he returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers where he won his championships. Injuries, however, would keep Green to only 11 games between Memphis, Cleveland, and Philadelphia during the 2022-2023 season.
Thoughts and Retirement Decision
After being waived by the 76ers just past early November 2023 following the major trade of James Harden from the Clippers, Green was left without a team for the balance of the season. At this point in his career, Green realized that the game had taken quite a physical toll on him.
"My body was letting me know. I was getting little calf strains here and there. But also, when you get older, teams aren't calling as much. Unfortunately, my services weren't as sought after as they were when I was younger. It's been a hell of a ride," Green said.
