For boxing fans Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao rumors can be exhausting. The fight no longer carries the juice it did when both men were fighting at their peak; Floyd is quick to point out Pacquiao is 1-2 in his last three fights, but the main reason for the delay is Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum.
In fact, Arum's presence likely means the two titans will never clash. "We all know the Pacquiao fight, at this particular time, will never happen, and the reason why the fight won't happen is because I will never do business with Bob Arum again in [my] life, and Pacquiao is Bob Arum's fighter," Mayweather said.
"Bob Arum gives Pacquiao a date, whereas Floyd Mayweather gives Floyd Mayweather his own date. I will be fighting again in May and I will be fighting again in September."
While Mayweather has almost impossibly improved as he's aged, putting forth one of the most dominating performances of his storied career in September against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, Pacman lost controversially to Timothy Bradley, and was viciously knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez before rebounding in China against an overmatched Brandon Rios.
Mayweather also said Pacquiao's demands tend to be too high for what he brings to the table financially. I want to see Manny Pacquiao's real pay-per-view numbers. Get his pay-per-view numbers from his last fight and compare them to my pay-per-view numbers with Canelo Alvarez. Did he do 1.2 million homes? He has done one million homes."
With Floyd out of the picture, Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach said a rematch with Timothy Bradley is likely, while a fight against Robert Guerrero would be entertaining.
"Maybe, Manny against Robert Guerrero would be a better fight because Guerrero always comes to fight," said Roach. "I remember Guerrero coming over to the gym and sparring with Manny years back. The problem is, I think, Guerrero is tied in with Showtime and Golden Boy so I don't know if that fight can be arranged."
