New Philadelphia 76ers signing Paul George dropped a stunning bombshell on the latest episode of his podcast show.
The 34-year-old revealed he was close to teaming up with Kawhi Leonard in the summer of 2019 but with the Toronto Raptors instead of the Los Angeles Clippers.
"I was close to going to Toronto. We were deciding to go to Toronto or the Clippers. Ultimately, Clippers put something better, a better trade package together that sent me to LA. But I was close, he was going to re-sign to Toronto and we was gonna go to Toronto," the nine-time NBA All-Star stated.
George also shared that his conversation about a potential team-up with Leonard began when he called to congratulate Leonard for winning the 2019 NBA Championship with the Raptors.
The 2019 NBA Finals MVP then responded by asking him about his plans for the future, and they ended up being teammates for the Clippers for the next five seasons.
Paul George shows off Sixers threads
George proudly showed off his new Sixers jersey on the latest episode of his podcast. He chose to wear jersey number 8 in honor of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who hails from Philly.
Bryant wore number 8 during the first half of his career. The Sixers have retired George's previous jersey numbers, 13 and 24, in honor of Wilt Chamberlain and Bobby Jones.
"I had to do it. C'mon man, I'm in Philly. My way of idolizing Kobe," the 2019 All-NBA First Team member said.
