Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has garnered unprecedented attention since joining the professional league.
As a result, there have been allegations that her name is being used for hateful purposes, such as racism and misogyny, which the 22-year-old addressed.
"It's disappointing. I think everybody in our world deserves the same amount of respect. The women in our league deserve the same amount of respect," the NCAA's all-time leading scorer told the media on Thursday, June 13.
Another comment from Clark during the same day drew attention, when she was asked about her named being weaponized in non-sports discussions.
"It's not something I can control. I don't put too much thought in thinking about things like that. And to be honest, I don't see a lot of it," the former Iowa Hawkeye initially said.

Meanwhile, Connecticut Sun shooting guard DiJonai Carrington, who has a budding rivalry with Clark and mocked her during a game for flopping, called her out subtly regarding the subject matter for her dismissive answer.
"How one can not be bothered by their name being used to justify racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia & the intersectionalities of them all is nuts. We all see the sh*t. We all have a platform. We all have a voice & they all hold weight. Silence is a luxury," the 26-year-old posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
The two recently faced off on Monday, June 10, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Montville, Connecticut, where the Sun secured a lopsided 89-72 win over the Fever.
