Dallas Wings star Satou Sabally recalled a viral interaction with former Dallas Mavericks forward Grant Williams that caused a stir on social media last year.

The 2023 WNBA Most Improved Player appeared on a recent episode of Paul George's Podcast P show.

"Grant Williams and I are friends. We've been friends before the situation. I don't know why his contacts were open. He had my number already," the 26-year-old told the show.

Sabally explained the meetup where Williams enthusiastically hugged her while having his phone ready, leading fans to speculate that he might be getting her number after a game in September 2023.

"You know, it was the hug. It was the cameras around. Everyone is also interested in who I am talking to. So, they will blow everything up when I talk to a man," she added.

Sabally then shared that she talks with Williams due to their similar roles in their respective league's player associations.

"We are really respectable work partners, I would even say. He's like the Vice President of the NBPA. I am from the WNBPA. So, every time when I'm in meetings, Grant is the person that I text... I need to ask someone who's experienced and knows the deal," the two-time WNBA All-Star said.

Their viral moment occurred when both were playing for Dallas. Williams eventually was traded from the Mavericks to the Charlotte Hornets in February 2024.
