Milwaukee Brewers fans are devastated after manager Pat Murphy hinted that rookie Robert Gasser might not pitch again this season.
The sensational rookie pitcher was put on the 15-day injured list last June 15 and underwent several tests on his left flexor strain.
He is now seeking a third opinion concerning his injury, and as the days go by, Murphy is becoming less optimistic about his return for the MLB 2024 season.

The medical team is thinking about whether he will need surgery or not.
"One doctor says get reconstruction," Murphy said.
"I don't think you say it's something that serious if in fact there isn't something wrong. With that, his option is probably to come back and do the same thing he did before, and then what are we going to get and how do we know and where's the kid's mental state going to be? He's a rookie, so I'm a little more pessimistic about that one. But I hope I'm wrong. I really do."
Brewers pitching situation gets dire
If the worst of the worst happens to Gasser's status, he will join Brandon Woodruff and Wade Miley, who are already out for the season.
Woodruff was ruled out for the rest of the season last March after undergoing surgery on his injured throwing shoulder.
Miley, 37, underwent Tommy John surgery, which he explained is something necessary due to the different nature of his injury.
"I need a full Tommy John," Miley said back in April.
"I knew it was a different pain than what I've been dealt with the last couple of years. It doesn't really hurt that bad. That's the weird part. I would just think UCL damage would be more painful."
Gasser, who last pitched on June 1 against the Chicago White Sox, has been a reliable pitcher for the Brewers this season, going 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA in five starts. All of them led to a Milwaukee victory.
Murphy and the rest of the squad will need more reinforcement as the season enters the second half.
Milwaukee Brewers' pitcher situation
The Brewers are 2-4 since Gasser was placed on IL. The rough stretch included getting swept by the Philadelphia Phillies in three games.
Left-hander Aaron Ashby and right-hander Tobias Myers, who were called up from Triple-A affiliate Nashville, are holding it up for them at the moment.
The team will also receive reinforcement from those still in the IL.
Murphy said things are looking good for Jakob Junis, who is set to return to the roster. The right-handed pitcher has been out since April due to a right shoulder impingement.
His recovery hit a snag when a ball hit him on the head during a batting practice.
Junis recently made a 2.1-inning rehab start with Nashville and is scheduled to throw a four-inning simulated game Wednesday.
DL Hall is also headed to Triple-A for a rehabilitation assignment.
Brewers are currently third in the American League with a 38-27 record.
