Celtics: Jaylen Brown Gives Emphatic Message in Locker Room Following Game 1 Win vs Mave

The Boston Celtics came out firing on all cylinders and swiftly overwhelmed the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals, sealing a commanding 107-89 victory on Thursday, June 6, at the TD Garden in Boston.

Despite their strong start, Celtics star Jaylen Brown felt compelled to remind his teammates of their main goal and delivered a short but strong message to them in the locker room. 

"Don't get cute fellas. Come on, man. It's just one game," the 2024 Eastern Conference Finals MVP declared in the locker room following the game.

Brown spearheaded the Celtics' scoring efforts as they secured a 1-0 series lead, dropping 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting as part of a well-rounded team performance.

During the lopsided victory, the 27-year-old also contributed six rebounds, two assists, three steals, and three blocks in 37 minutes of action.  

Jaylen Brown shares huddle talk after slight scare

Despite controlling the entire game, the Celtics had a bit of a scare in the third quarter after Dallas cut their once 29-point lead to eight with 4:26 left in the period.

The Celtics then responded by bringing back the lead to 20 by the end of the quarter.

Brown shared what was discussed in the huddle during the timeout after the Mavs' run.

"We just said, just breathe. The game is starting now. Just breathe. We're in, this is a moment where our experience shines through. Just breathe, just keep playing basketball," the three-time NBA All-Star said.
