Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has received support for her contribution to women's sports amid a heated controversy within her first few weeks in the WNBA.

Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs star and reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, has expressed her support for Clark on social media.

"@caitlinclark22 keep doing your thing!! You're a baller and it's incredible to see what you're doing for the game and women's sports!! [fire emoji]," the 28-year-old wrote on Instagram Stories while reposting an infographic about the records she set within her first ten career games in the WNBA.

Clark is subject to much scrutiny after being the most hyped player to enter the WNBA. She is coming off a sensational college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, during which she became the NCAA's all-time leading scorer.

The 22-year-old is embroiled in controversy after being subjected to a hard foul from Chicago Sky veteran Chennedy Carter, which has sparked discussions about treatment towards her.

Brittany Mahomes was a former professional athlete

Brittany Mahomes' support for Clark is understandable, given that she used to be an athlete.

The 28-year-old played college soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler and subsequently played professionally, joining the Icelandic pro team UMF Afturelding.

She made five appearances in her single season with the team and scored two goals before retiring in 2017. She is now a personal fitness trainer through her online service, Brittany Lynne Fitness.
