The New England Patriots are hunting for fresh personnel to bolster their front office as they embark on a new era in the 2024 NFL season.

The team has begun their search by scheduling an interview with Philadelphia Eagles director of scouting Brandon Hunt for their primary football executive position for Wednesday, May 8, at Foxboro.

This marks New England's first known external interview for their top front office position, according to NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

Hunt has been with the Eagles since 2022 after spending 13 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a pro scouting coordinator from 2009 to 2022, his second stint with the team.

Three other candidates, including Buffalo Bills director of player personnel Terrance Gray, Arizona Cardinals vice president of player personnel Quentin Harris, and Cincinnati Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown, declined to have an interview with the team.

Patriots' top executive position has been vacant during Bill Belichick's era

The top front office position, typically known as general manager for other teams in the NFL, has remained vacant for the Patriots for the past 24 years since former head coach Bill Belichick assumed the de facto role when he took over the squad in 2000.

The position did not pass to Jerod Mayo, who succeeded Belichick as head coach earlier this year.

The specific title for the Patriots' top executive role remains unclear, but according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, this position would have authority above all other football-related roles within the organization.
