No official talks are scheduled between NHL and players union, but both the sides are claiming that they are open to resolve the issue. Representatives of the NHL and the union are talking on telephone, but nobody knows when the negotiation process will start.

NHL has already scrapped all the games till Nov. 1 and more games are in danger of being scrapped. The lockout entered 36th day Sunday.

The NHL had already scrapped 135 games and if both the sides don't reach to an agreement then more games are under threat.

"We had a conference call today to answer some of their questions," NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly told The Associated Press in an email Sunday. "No bargaining. And no bargaining meetings scheduled."

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and union executive director Donald Fehr did not participate in Sunday's conference call, but both the sides are claiming that they have made a proposal which will prove instrumental for a possible agreement.

"There are multiple frameworks for a deal on the table," Steve Fehr said. "We gave them three good ones on Thursday. Each moves toward a 50-50 split of (hockey-related revenue) that the league wants.

"Each allows the contracts in place to be honored. Unfortunately, after considering these proposals for about 10 minutes the league rejected them and essentially said that they are not moving off their last proposal."

Negotiations were broken on Thursday after the players union presented three counterproposals to give the players a better share in the hockey related revenue. NHL was not happy with it and rejected all three proposals. Before that the NHL has proposed a 50-50 revenue sharing formula, which in turn was not accepted by the union.
