Kylian Mbappe's transfer news will be the biggest during the summer, although many have accepted that he will eventually move to Real Madrid-that it is just a matter of time.

Well, time is not the only thing standing in the way. Kylian Mbappe's salary is one of the reasons why the ink has yet to touch the paper.

The Athletic reported that the PSG player's wages are yet to be finalized, which is why the talks are being stalled.

The latest news stated that the 25-year-old forward is leaning towards joining the most successful club in Europe. However, "influential members of the 24-year-old's entourage have been left unconvinced by the Spanish club's offer, which has been delaying the process."

In a separate report, Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol added that the bonuses Mbappe is entitled to with PSG make his earnings hard to reach for Real Madrid.

"Our information is, Real are prepared to make him the highest-paid player in history but there is no way a club even as big as Real can afford to pay him the kind of money he was earning at PSG."

Kylian Mbappe salary

Mbappe is earning $215 million per year with PSG. His salary is $28 million annually.

His contract states that he should get a $161 million signing bonus and a $75 million loyalty bonus on the first year of his newest contract. It then increased to $96 million in the third year.

However, reports revealed in early January that he decided to waive these bonuses, which many interpreted as his strategy to make it easy for PSG once he leaves.

It should be no surprise if he refuses to take less than what he earns with PSG.

Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal reportedly tried to buy him at $215 million, but the club refused.

The two parties mended their relationship in August, and last month, Mbappe spoke about how he is more focused on his team's campaign than his future.

"With the agreement I had with the president in the summer, my decision is not important as we managed to protect all the parties and preserved the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, which is the most important. So we will say that it [the decision] is secondary," he said.

Kylian Mbappe's net worth in 2023 is currently at $180 million, putting him third on the list of highest-paid athletes of that year. He trailed former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo (earning $200 million in Saudi Arabia right now) and Lionel Messi.

Real Madrid is the only club that can match his earnings

While the roadblock appears to be a huge concern, Real Madrid fans should not feel worried as their club is the only one capable of making Mbappe happy-whether in the financial aspect or the title chase.

The highest-paid player in Real Madrid right now is Toni Kroos, who is set to earn $26 million for the 2023-2024 season.

Kroos is followed by David Alaba, who will receive $24.1 million this season, Luka Modric, who will earn $23.7 million, and rising star Jude Bellingham, who will earn $22 million for the latest season.
