San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has played a pivotal role in elevating the Bay Area team to one of the contenders for the Super Bowl this season.
The 27-year-old was selected by San Francisco in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 36th overall pick after completing his senior season with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Samuel contributed to the 49ers' journey to the Super Bowl in his rookie season, although they ultimately faced a 31-20 defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs.
During the championship game, Samuel showcased his versatility by rushing twice for 53 yards and catching five passes for 39 yards. Notably, his 53 rushing yards set a record for the most by a wide receiver in Super Bowl history.
Samuel made the Pro Bowl game and the First Team All-Pro in 2021. He also earned recognition from his peers, securing the 19th spot on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2022 list.

Deebo Samuel Contract: $71.55 million
Before the 2022 season, Samuel inked a lucrative three-year contract extension valued at $71.55 million, with the potential to reach up to $73.5 million through incentives. The agreement includes $58.1 million in guaranteed money.
However, before the deal could be sealed, the two parties experienced a setback that could've derailed the pact. Samuel had initially requested a trade out of San Francisco in April 2022.
Notably, the request was not solely driven by financial considerations; instead, the 215-pound WR expressed dissatisfaction with how he was utilized within the 49ers' system. Fortunately, they were able to sort out their differences in the end.
Following the new contract, Samuel started in only 12 games in 2022 and registered fewer than 650 receiving yards. This was a notable contrast to his stellar performance the year prior, where he accumulated over 1,700 scrimmage yards.
Samuel believed that his 2022 performance was "awful," attributing some of the challenges to the contract negotiations with San Francisco, considering that it set him at a disadvantage in preparing for the season.
Before his extension, Samuel was on a four-year entry-level deal with the 49ers worth $7,247,476, which was signed after he was drafted in 2019.
Deebo Samuel Career Earnings
At the end of the 2023 NFL season, Samuel is projected to accumulate $42,747,716 in 49ers salary earnings throughout his five seasons in the NFL. This figure does not include additional income from endorsement or deductions for agent fees, taxes, and other business expenses.
Once he finishes his current deal in 2025, the six-foot player is expected to amass $82,220,716 in career earnings, per figures from Spotrac.
Deebo Samuel Salary 2023
Samuel is set to make $11,395,000 in the ongoing 2023 NFL season.
The majority of his compensation is due to the option bonus clause in his contract, which stands at $9,215,000. His base salary is $1,080,000, plus a workout bonus of $200,000 and incentives worth $150,000.
He is the 21st best-paid wide receiver in the entire league this season.
