Today at 2:45 p.m. ET FC Porto will take the pitch at Vicente Calderon to take on Atletico Madrid in UEFA Champions League Group G action that can be live streamed here.
Atletico has locked up the top spot in Group G by compiling a 4-1-0 record through the group stage, but that hasn't discouraged Porto from believing they can hand the Spanish side their first defeat.
Porto coach Paulo Fonseca knows the only chance his club has of advancing is to win against the heavily favored Atletico, so he is sounding the call for inspired play. "Atletico Madrid have made a thunderous start to the season. They have only lost one game and drawn one and this attests to their value as a team.
"But we have no other outcome than victory. We have no choice to move to the next stage. We are here with the ambition to beat Atletico Madrid."
Porto's surprisingly solid play away from home has given some teeth to Fonseca's rousing words. "We did not win any games at home and abroad we have made a positive campaign," Fonseca said.
"First, we have to worry about us, and only then think about the other game. If we do not win our game, the other does not matter."
Atletico midfielder Mario Suarez will not appear in today's game, but ensured Atletico is playing this game fill throttle despite having sewn up the No. 1 finish. "We are taking things game by game. This is how we are getting the results we've had and that's how we must continue.
"On Wednesday, we have an important Champions League match against Porto. We're going to go out to win and on Sunday, too, against Valencia. That's our mentality and we hope that in May we will be fighting for great things."
