Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum wrote touching farewell messages to his departing teammates, Robert Williams III and Malcolm Brogdon, who were traded to acquire two-time NBA All-Star Jrue Holiday.
The 25-year-old shared posts on Instagram Stories featuring photos with each player, starting with Williams III, with whom he had been teammates since 2018.
"This one hurt. My brotha right here. Toughest part about this business, appreciate you for everything. Super proud of the player you have become and excited to see how far you take it," Tatum wrote about the 6-foot-9 power forward/center.
Tatum also urged Williams III to keep striving to be special and emphasized the importance of staying true to himself without changing.
"My dawg 4L (for life) till we link up again. Nothing but love," the 2023 NBA All-Star MVP concluded on his message for this teammate of five years.
The two-time All-NBA First Team member also referred to Brogdon as a "true professional" and expressed his love and respect for the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year. Tatum extended his best wishes to Brogdon for the upcoming season.

Boston Celtics acquire Jrue Holiday
The Celtics have acquired one of the best perimeter defenders in the league in two-time NBA All-Star Jrue Holiday, from the Portland Trail Blazers.
In exchange, they traded away Williams III, Brogdon, a 2024 first-round pick via the Golden State Warriors, and a 2029 unprotected first-round pick.
