Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves continues to rack up accolades, and his latest feat was something forthcoming - becoming the first member of the 40 home run and 70 stolen bases club.

The 25-year-old outfielder achieved the feat on Wednesday, September 27, against the Chicago Cubs. He got bag No. 70 at the bottom of the 10th inning to formally enter his name in the MLB record books, ESPN reported.

"Very happy, mostly that we were able to win," Acuña said through an interpreter after the Braves' 6-5 win over the Cubs. "I'm extremely happy to have created the 40-70 club."

Acuña thus becomes the first player to reach 70 stolen bags since Jacoby Ellsbury did the trick back in 2009, according to Stathead.

The Venezuelan baseball player continues his unbelievable run this MLB season, although more could be coming. That includes possibly winning the MVP award and, more importantly, a World Series trophy.

Atlanta Braves benefit from latest win

More importantly, the win allowed the Braves to clinch the NL top seed. This means Atlanta will enjoy home-field advantage through the NL Championship Series if they make it that far.

Additionally, they need only one more win to be guaranteed home-field advantage through the World Series, SI.com reported.

"It's great if we get past the first round," Braves manager Brian Snitker said. "We had it in 2021 against the Dodgers, which is big. You play a team like that, you want to play as many games as you can here."
