Michael Soroka of the Atlanta Braves was forced out of the 2022-23 MLB season after being placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right forearm inflammation on Wednesday, September 6.

Although imaging did not reveal any structural damage on Soroka's forearm, the Braves are taking a cautious approach and are opting to preserve the 26-year-old according to manager Brian Snitker as reported by Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The All-Star pitcher was in action on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals. However, he lasted just three innings and allowed five runs on four hits. Soroka was eventually pulled out after reportedly suffering numbness in his fingers, ESPN reported.

Snitker says he had asked Soroka about the numbness, but the 26-year-old was clueless on how it came about.

It was an unfortunate end for the Canadian player who worked his way up from the minors. It would also be good to note that Soroka is trying to bounce back after suffering from Achilles tendon injuries in 2020 and 2021.

Soroka was not the only player the Braves placed on the 15-day injured list. Collin McHugh was also on the IL due to right shoulder inflammation, the same injury he suffered in April, CBS Sports reported.

With the two players on the injured list, the Atlanta Braves recalled Darius Vines and Ben Heller from Triple-A Gwinnett to shore up their roster.

The Braves lost the second game of their series with the Cardinals, 6-11, although Atlanta made an effort to come back in the sixth and seventh innings, SI.com reported.

Both teams meet again on Thursday, with the Braves looking to avoid a sweep.
