Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was not done chasing down hours after the Italian Grand Prix.

The 29-year-old was walking in the streets of Milan near the Armani Hotel at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday when two robbers took a Richard Mille watch worth $540,000 from his wrist.

The Spaniard and his entourage, which included his trainer, as well as witnesses, chased down the thieves, and they were able to retrieve the valuable timepiece back.

A video surfaced featuring Sainz after the incident, who was visibly exhausted from the chase while still wearing his Ferrari team uniform. Authorities were also putting one of the robbers in handcuffs in the footage.

The 2022 British Grand Prix winner spoke on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, about the incident, saying that the most important thing is that they were all okay and the robbery will only remain as an unpleasant anecdote.

"Many thanks to all the people who helped us yesterday, to the Milan police for their quick intervention, and thanks for all your messages," Sainz concluded. He recently celebrated his 29th birthday last Friday, September 1.

Memorable weekend for Sainz

Sainz had a great weekend at Ferrari's home race in Monza, as he claimed pole position in qualifying, starting the race in front.

The Spaniard resiliently defended from reigning champion Max Verstappen for the first 14 laps until the Dutchman overtook him in lap 15.

Sainz was named Driver of the Day after finishing third in the Italian Grand Prix after the two Red Bull drivers, Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
