Belgian winger Eden Hazard is reportedly considering retirement at 32 years of age after an injury-riddled subpar spell with Spanish giants Real Madrid, who terminated his contract a year early last June.

Once considered among the best players in the world years ago, Hazard is contemplating hanging up his boots after multiple injuries have taken a toll on his body, as well as a lack of offers from suitable clubs nearly two months into the summer transfer window.

Spanish news outlet AS also reported that Hazard's family are already settled in the Spanish capital and does not want to move to another city, but none among the four La Liga teams in Madrid are interested in taking in the 32-year-old.

Aside from Real Madrid, La Liga teams in the Spanish capital include Atletico Madrid, Getafe, and Rayo Vallecano.

Eden Hazard's Real Madrid spell a 'flop'

Hazard was considered one of the world's greatest players during his seven-year spell with Premier League club Chelsia, where he scored 110 goals and 92 assists in 352 appearances. He led the West London-based club to two Premier League titles in 2014-15 and 2016-17.

His reputation led to Real Madrid paying a $114 million transfer fee, one of the highest ever to acquire the Belgian international during the summer of 2019.

However, he only managed to appear in 76 games for the Los Blancos, scoring 7 goals and dishing 12 assists in a four-year period. The club terminated his contract a year early last June, and some labeled his transfer a flop.
