John Cena Injury Update [PHOTO]: Cena Tweets About Elbow, CM Punk Has Bruised Ribs Heading Into TLC 2013 [VIDEO]

It was reported this week that two of the WWE's top stars were battling injuries as John Cena's surgically repaired elbow was said to be ailing him while CM Punk was going through some of his own injuries, with his ribs and back bothering him. Both superstars tweeted about their injuries on Thursday and hope to be fine for TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs on Dec. 15.

Cena, who was sidelined from mid-August to the end of October, returned at the WWE's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on Oct. 27 months earlier than expected from surgery on a torn triceps and distended elbow he underwent after the SummerSlam pay-per-view and was said to be dealing with significant pain due to the fact that he rushed back from injury sooner than expected through vigorous rehab.

Cena won the World the Heavyweight Championship from Alberto Del Rio at the Hell in a Cell event in October and then retained the gold in a rematch at November's Survivor Series pay-per-view, and is now set to face WWE Champion Randy Orton in a title-for-title unification match at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs.

Though word was during last month's WWE tour through Europe that Cena was dealing with pain on a nightly basis in the elbow, the Cenation leader tweeted Thursday that he felt fine and that he is "even stronger":

Cena is expected to be involved in big WWE plans for WrestleMania XXX where he is speculated to either team up with a returning Hulk Hogan in a legendary tag team match or take on Orton again in a unification match since there is an expected "screwy" ending planned for TLC.

While Cena is feeling fine, the prognosis on Punk seems to be a little worse as the superstar has been dealing with a back injury and some issues with his rib cartilage. Last Monday on RAW, Punk was booked not to take any punishment as he was involved in a non-wrestling role to try and rest up the ribs. Punk, however, did compete at Tuesday night's SmackDown tapings in a match against The Shield. Punk is slated to take on Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in a three-on-one match at TLC, and while he should be good to go, the "Straightedge Superstar" noted on Twitter that his ribs were busted, though he is still working out and will be able to wrestle:

Rumors earlier this week slated that Punk was also going to be prominently featured in this year's WrestleMania XXX in a match that is speculated between Punk and Triple H.

While Punk and Cena are banged up, both are expected to be featured prominently in the TLC pay-per-view on Dec. 15 and in the WWE's main storylines leading up to the biggest show of the year.
