Manchester City have been the most dominant English team in the last decade, making them attractive to many players.

However, that was not the case for Gabriel Jesus, who was part of the club from 2017 to 2022.

The Brazilian forward said there was one incident with Pep Guardiola he thought was the last straw, pushing him to leave the club after a long stay.

Jesus shared on The Denilson Show podcast that a Champions League game he scored and won for City made him feel mistreated by his manager at that time.

This incident involves another player who he thought took Pep's favor despite him being available as the better player.

"There was a Champions League game, PSG, at home, in which he put [Oleksandr] Zinchenko as a false 9. Crazy thing," Jesus said.

"The day before, he didn't even use [Zinchenko] in training, he had put me in as a striker. ... Zinchenko even joked with me: 'that day I felt bad for you."

The 26-year-old said that incident when he felt ignored made up his mind.

"I called my mother to talk: 'I want to leave.' I'm going home, because he put [Zinchenko] on, and he didn't put me on. He put a left-back there. I went crazy,'" he added.

Time with Arsenal

Jesus moved on with the Gunners after signing a reported five-year contract at the start of last season.

Arsenal looked like they were about to break their 19-year Premier League trophy drought until Manchester City swooped in and took the trophy in the last month. Jesus' former team also won its first Champions League title last season.

He finished his first season with Arsenal with 11 goals in 26 appearances.
