The best center-back in the transfer market right now is believed to be Napoli's Kim Min-jae, and it looks like he will land with the best team in Germany soon.

Trusted football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Bavarians are ready to spend money to get the services of the man dubbed "Korean Monster."

"The agreement between Bayern and Kim Min-jae is at final stages, details to be sorted on 5-year deal. He's prepared to accept, not signed yet ," Romano wrote on his Twitter account.

"The release clause will become valid on July 1 - unless other clubs send a new bigger salary proposal next week, Kim will join Bayern."

This outcome saw Manchester United and Newcastle United losing the race for the signature of the 26-year-old center-back.

Bayern Munich, after a title scare at the end of the 2023 Bundesliga season, could use the defending of Kim as they are expected to lose Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard this offseason.

Who is this 'Korean Monster'?

Napoli fans can't help but gush over the South Korean player for his great feel of the game, even though he is not as tall as other central defenders. He is renowned for his smart reading of plays, imposing defense, and rough style.

Luciano Spalletti, his former manager at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, calls him the best center-back in the world. To fans, it is a description that is not far-fetched as he anchored the club's defense that ended up as the best in Italy this year.

He started his pro career with the local semi-professional club Gyeongju KHNPa and moved up from there. He transferred to top-flight club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and China's Beijing Guoan.

In 2021, he signed with Fenerbahçe, where his exploits were discovered, prompting Napoli to sign him the following season.

He won the Serie A 2022-2023 season Defender of the Year and probably will come for more individual awards soon.
