The Vegas Golden Knights capped off their sixth season in franchise history by winning the Stanley Cup Finals over the Florida Panthers in five games.

The Golden Knights dominated the series-clincher, scoring nine goals in Game 5, which is the most by a team in a Stanley Cup-clinching victory.

Team captain Mark Stone was responsible for three of them, putting up the first hat trick in a Stanley Cup clincher in over a century.

The Stanley Cup win was a huge boost to Las Vegas sports, which recently added an NFL team, the Raiders, and won a WNBA Championship with the Aces. The city is also set to host the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix later this year.

Vegas Golden Knights: Successful Since Inception

The Golden Knights are one of the rare instances where an expansion team is met with immediate success upon their founding.

They made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in their debut season, the first time such a feat happened in 50 years.

Unfortunately, their dream inaugural season did not meet its happy ending as the Washington Capitals defeated the Golden Knights in five games.

Despite being a relatively young franchise, several fans were awed by the team's success.

A fan sarcastically said that Vegas' drought is finally over.

Another fan was in disbelief on why the Toronto Maple Leafs can't break their 56-year drought.

A third fan mocked Canadian teams for their 30-year Stanley Cup drought.
