Hours later, he sat down and watched while the team with the right to pick him in the upcoming draft was announced.

The next day, he was named the MVP, Best Scorer, Best Defender, and First Team member of the current LNB Pro A season.

Spurs Delighted to Have Number 1 Pick
The San Antonio Spurs couldn't be happier to get pole position in the draft. While they have not officially selected Wembanyama yet, they already feel the effects of the French phenom.
The Spurs ticketing office is one busy room, with over 2,500 deposits made for season tickets and over 700 team app downloads since last night.
Aside from winning the draft lottery, many Spurs fans at the local Roo Pub were thrilled for another reason - they won't be spending a single dime for their tab.
The establishment promised to pick up the bill for everyone if their hometown team got the #1 pick, and the crowd went crazy after it came true.
Spurs and France legend Tony Parker was immensely proud of Wembanyama, tweeting a picture of the wonderkid wearing his Spurs jersey as a youngster.
