Haaland has broken the record for the most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season by scoring his 33rd goal in Manchester City's victory over Arsenal on Wednesday.

Haaland has had an exceptional first season in England, and he has been pursuing the goalscoring record set by Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who had held the record since the 2017-18 season when he scored 32 goals.

Haaland matched Salah's tally during City's win over Leicester earlier this month before surpassing him with his late goal against Arsenal. However, Haaland is still not the highest single-season goal scorer in the league's history, as Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer both scored 34 goals in 1993-94 and 1994-95, respectively, when the Premier League season was four games longer due to 22 top-flight clubs.

Despite this, Haaland is still on course to surpass them, as City has six top-flight games left to play. This season, the 22-year-old has scored 49 goals in all competitions, including 12 in eight Champions League appearances, three in three FA Cup matches, and one in two Carabao Cup outings.

One of his standout performances was during City's Champions League campaign when he scored five goals in their 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig, becoming only the second player after Lionel Messi to achieve this feat.
