Two-time WWE Champion AJ Styles is now ready to take his flight for a showdown against WWE Champion Drew McIntyre in the TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs) event of the WWE Championship scheduled on December 20.
Styles persevered to secure the No. 1 contender spot after battling Riddle and Keith Lee, who have also won singles matches last week, in a Triple Threat Match on RAW.
The upcoming fight will be the first singles match between Styles and McIntyre.
The Phenomenal One was missing in action in the first moments as Riddle, and Keith Lee exchanged punches early on. Styles pursued Lee outside the ring after Riddle kicked the big man.
Styles could not make a dent on Lee until he delivered a running knee to the latter's face. A minute had not passed before Styles received a dose of his own medicine.
Riddle appeared at the sideline following a vicious knee strike straight to Styles. Following a quick hit, he somersaulted on the ropes, hitting Styles and Lee, which sent them crashing to the floor.
The 34-year-old professional wrestler seemed to be the biggest person in the ring as he continued his dominance.
Riddle was still unstoppable as he pounded the giant with a head kick following an elbow dash to Styles. It was the same scene in every angle until Styles prepared for the Styles Clash but was stopped by a quick waist lock from Lee.
Coming to the conclusion, Lee and Riddle locked down for another give-and-take of slaps and strikes. Riddle scampered for his 'Final Flash' which put Lee to sleep.
Styles' presence was quite unnoticeable until the Phenomenal One leaped for the win, pinning Riddle using his Phenomenal Forearm to arrange the much-awaited fight against McIntyre.
Moments later, The Miz and John Morrison were disqualified in a match against McIntyre and Irish wrestler Sheamus. Styles, who just got out from a hard-earned fight, distracted Sheamus with hot tirades.
The opportunity opened a door for The Miz and Morrison to sneak in the Celtic warrior's back for a smooth thrust. The combination of the Starship Pain and Skull-Crushing finale geared them to their motive of cashing in McIntyre in the Money-in-the-bank challenge, which Styles told the Miz earlier.
Style's Phenomenal Forearm cost The Miz and Morrison a sorry loss after Morrison hurdled Sheamus from the apron. McIntyre came back with a bell-saving Claymore to The Miz.
Omos, Styles' bodyguard, came to the rescue after the contender landed on the escort's shoulder for an escape.
The TLC fight might be the last WWE Championship match before the Royal Rumble 2021, depending on what will happen 19 days later, according to Bleacher Report.
Previously, Jeff Hardy beat Elias through a Swanton bomb en route to a pin fall. Cedric Alexander shook Xavier Woods with a pin fall on the Lumbar Check. Slapjack ended Ricochet with his Lighting Spiral signature.
In the women's event, the tag team of Lana and Asuka was too much for Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler after a knee drop leading to pin fall. Dana Brooke also school-pinned Reckoning to hand her the latest defeat.
