The Blackhawks are coming off of a 5-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers Monday and goaltender Antti Raanta will get his first career start on Thanksgiving Eve.
"For sure, it's his turn. We're excited about him getting into the net," coach Joe Quenneville said via NHL.com. "It'll be a good challenge for him, a good test."
The Flames will be itching to get back into action as the team hasn't played since a 3-2 shootout win against the Florida Panthers last Friday in a game that extended their unbeaten streak in regulation (2-0-1) to three games. Coach Bob Hartley knows that the defending Stanley Cup champions are more of a challenge than the Panthers, but said you have to look at each team the same way.
"As a coaching staff, you certainly don't want to look at this that way but if you're not ready against those teams, you're going to get a major spanking," Hartley said via NHL.com. "That's the way it is. I think it brings the best out of everyone but over here, we're cultivating a new culture and we want everyone good every night."
The Flames top scorer is Jiri Hudler, who has seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points while Sean Monahan has found the twine eight times and added six helpers for 14 points and Mike Cammalleri has 13 points by lighting the lamp nine times and adding four assists.
The Blackhawks have been paced by Patrick Kane, who has a team-high 26 points off of 13 goals and 13 assists while captain Jonathan Toews has found the back of the net 12 times and added 12 helpers for 24 points and Patrick Sharp has eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points.
The Blackhawks look to stay strong on their road trip while the Flames hope to continue to rack up points when these teams faceoff tonight in Calgary.
