USA TODAY Sports is reporting rock star Jon Bon Jovi may be interested in buying the Buffalo Bills.
According to the newspaper the rock star "is consumed with purchasing an NFL team and is among the parties positioning to purchase the Buffalo Bills when the team comes up for sale."
Longtime Bills owner Ralph Wilson, 95, insists as long as he is living the team is not for sale. USA TODAY adds there is widespread speculation about what happens to the team in the longer term.
Sources say Bon Jovi has also met with many leaders in the NFL and "has spent considerable time in the Western New York area getting to know politicians and power brokers." The newspaper adds there seems little chance of the Bills being interested in relocating the franchise in any other region.
According to Forbes, Bon Jovi was the third highest-paid musician in the world in 2013, bringing in $79 million. In its 2012 "Ones to Watch" list, Forbes also estimated his total net worth in the neighborhood of $290 million.
In a 2013 survey conducted by the magazine, the Bills were valued at $870 million, ranking them 30th in the league in terms of value.
"Bon Jovi is apparently part of a group expressing interest in buying the team, but there's been no contact between them and Erie County," a spokesperson for Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz told USA TODAY. "This is why it was important to get the 10-year lease in place."
