George Zimmerman Bail Set: Trayvon Martin Killer Banned From Carrying Weapon? [VIDEO]

Bail was set at $9,000 for George Zimmerman on Tuesday, as a Florida Seminole County judge also ordered him not to carry any weapons and refrain from all contact with the girlfriend he is charged with physically abusing, according to CNN.

Zimmerman appeared in criminal court just after noon on Tuesday where he was also ordered to wear a monitoring device and not to travel outside of the state of Florida. In addition, Zimmerman can only return to the Apopka home he shared with girlfriend Samantha Scheibe with a police escort and only to collect his belongings.

Four months after being acquitted in the killing of 17-year-old, unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman was hit with felony aggravated assault charges on Monday after Scheibe told police he pointed a shotgun in her face and destroyed furnishings in the home. He also faces misdemeanor charges of domestic violence battery and criminal mischief.

Though Zimmerman told police the argument erupted after he tried to leave because Scheibe was pregnant and wanted to raise their child by herself, police say that Scheibe disputed that account and even maintains that she isn't even expecting.

Monday's incident marked at least the fourth encounter he has had with police since being acquitted last July. In September, he was released without charges after his wife called 911 to say Zimmerman had punched her father in the nose and threatened t o shoot him during a domestic dispute. He has also been pulled over twice for speeding, once in July and again in September.

Zimmerman, then a self-appointed neighborhood watch captain, fatally shot the 17-year-old Martin on the night after Feb. 26, 2012 after ignored the advice of a 911 dispatcher and chose to follow and confront the teen he later admitted he thought looked suspicious because he was wearing a hoodie.

Although Zimmerman's defense did not formally invoke the "stand your ground law" during trial, the case sparked a national debate about race law which now exists in at least 22 states. Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon Martin's mother, has since testified on Capitol Hill and the law and what she feels is a clear and present need to either amend or repeal it.
