Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love are the key and engine to Minnesota's breakneck offense, but they are getting key contributions from everyone in the starting five. Corey Brewer torched the Cleveland Cavaliers in Minny's most recent game, drilling all five of his 3-pointers.
"I checked to see if it (said) Kevin Martin on the back," Rubio said. "He was wearing his jersey or something. He was making shots and he was being Corey too, running on the fast break. He's been great for us." Martin is day-to-day, but he's scoring a career-high 24.6 points per game this year and nailing a ridiculous 56 percent of his treys.
The Nuggets looked ragged to begin the year, but have won their last two games and are showing improvement in all phases of the game. "We played big and pretty much just dominated inside and kept the pressure on them by running the floor," after a thorough handling of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Denver is without big-ticket center JaVale McGee indefinitely due to injury, so Timofey Mozgov stepped right in and gave the Nuggets 23 points off the pine. Kenneth Faried added 21 points and 13 boards, although that effort on the glass may be difficult to duplicate against Love.
Watching Love, whose averaging 14.7 rebounds a night, go to war with Faried (9.1 RPG), might be the premier mano-a-mano matchup of the evening.
