The "Melo-Drama" in New York has almost reached is and as the NBA trade deadline nears. After the 23rd of Feb. no more trades can be made between NBA teams. That means, if Carmelo Anthony has not agreed to any trade by then, he will remain with the New York Knicks. This is something that Anthony has all but confirmed himself.
In a report by Fox Sports, Carmelo Anthony had this to say about the trade rumors and whether or not he will stay in New York: "I never thought I would be anywhere else. Like I told you all before, nothing came to me, nothing came to my table for me to look at. Until that time comes then they don't need for me to even talk about the trade clause." So, it would appear that the Knicks have yet to even present Anthony a trade to look at or approve.
Trade destinations for Anthony have included the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers which are all teams looking for a key piece to bolster their lineup for a deep playoff or even a championship run according to News Day. Because of the no-trade clause that Anthony was given in his contract, he has the power to veto any trade the Knicks deal him in. Though, playing alongside his good friend LeBron James (Cavaliers) or Chris Paul (Clippers) may be incentive enough for him to waive it.
Another person that believes Carmelo Anthony will remain in New York City is Knicks head coach, Jeff Hornacek. The NBA legend and coach said in an interview after a Knicks practice that "Whether you're a player, a coach, whatever, you always believe nothing's going to happen. And I think this is going to be our team", as per NY Daily News. Though, nothing is really certain until the minute that the trade deadline strikes on the 23rd of Feb.
